Not sure of your description..... A Linux "LiveCD" - if you mean a "Live Distro" is a demo mode of Linux to run either from Linux ISO Image on CD/DVD or a USB Drive. It does not install Linux, but runs it from the CD Drawer or USB Drive with somewhat limited functionality. It is just a demo mode to see if interested in that flavor of Linux and whether to install - which does have the install icon on the desktop background to do so - which will install Linux as you would with the CD/DVD or USB Drive as you could when began.

It is not clear whether you have XP and Linux installed - the dual boot system (more than one OS [operating system] installed). If you have just XP installed - what has occurred recently ? Virus or worm infection ? Data corruption ? If you did not install Linux yet, then there was a problem obviously when you were operating XP up to that point. If the Linux Live CD is running, obviously your computer disk is not destroyed or it could not display data. What is the EXACT error message you are looking at ?

Anything here?

Perhaps starting from scratch and first reinstall Windows XP. Go To Disk Management and allocate space for the Linux install - about at least 5 Gigs to closer to 30 Gigs if you have the room. SEE Shrink Disk for how to that then allows the partition to be set up for easy install.... Great Tutorial HERE:
